I am committed to delivering practical, student-focused engineering education that connects theoretical knowledge with professional practice. My teaching focuses primarily on communication technologies and Internet of Things technologies. I aim to help students develop strong technical knowledge, practical problem-solving skills, and the confidence to apply what they learn to real engineering challenges.
In addition to classroom teaching, I have coordinated Master’s thesis subjects and currently coordinate work-integrated learning subjects for students in the Master of Engineering (Professional). I also lead work-integrated learning across Engineering and serve as the College representative in this area. Through these roles, I support students in applying their academic knowledge in research and industry settings, developing professional skills, and preparing for engineering practice.
As Course Coordinator for the Master of Engineering (Professional) at James Cook University, I contribute to curriculum design, subject coordination, student engagement, course planning, quality assurance, and continuous improvement. I also serve as Program Coordinator for the IoT and Data Engineering major within the Master of Engineering, providing academic leadership for its curriculum, delivery, and ongoing development. In addition, I have led the development of new programs and majors within the Master of Engineering (Professional), working with colleagues and relevant stakeholders to ensure that the curriculum remains academically rigorous, professionally relevant, and responsive to industry and student needs.
A significant part of my course leadership has involved leading Engineers Australia accreditation processes for both new and existing majors. All accreditation and approval processes I have led have been completed successfully. This work has supported the continued quality, professional recognition, and ongoing development of JCU’s engineering programs.
I also undertake consultancy through JCU for external institutions in Australia, providing expertise in engineering education, curriculum design, program development, accreditation, and continuous improvement. This external engagement allows me to apply my academic leadership experience more broadly and contribute to the development and quality assurance of engineering education beyond JCU.
As Head of International Partnerships in the College of Science and Engineering, I lead and support the development of international education partnerships, articulation arrangements, curriculum mapping, collaborative program design, and engagement with partner institutions. These responsibilities bring together teaching, curriculum development, accreditation, international collaboration, and student support.
My contributions to teaching have been recognised through the 2022 James Cook University Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning, awarded for creating an innovative and student-focused curriculum and learning culture that equips engineering students with job-ready skills in electronics and the Internet of Things. In 2026, I also received recognition for dedication and excellence in leadership, teaching, and student support within the transnational education program between Xi’an University of Technology and James Cook University.
My teaching approach emphasises applied learning, problem-solving, industry engagement, professional development, and continuous improvement. I aim to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment in which students can develop technical competence, independent thinking, professional confidence, and readiness for future engineering careers.
